Crafting

Between blogging and Pinterest, I'm overloaded on DIY and craft ideas right now.  So since I was home alone today, I decided to try some of the projectss I've had on my to-do list. There are some very inspiring ideas out there in Blogland but to be honest, I don't have a use for most of it.  Most of what I worked on today just turned out to be pieces of bigger projects but Hobby Lobby is closed on Sunday's so I'll just have to wait to finish them.  I'll try to post some pics of the finished products but don't hold your breath.... I love to start and hate to finish.
I like to spread out and make a big mess when I'm crafting.

I'm starting to think that I really need a sewing machine.  I've wanted one for a while, but 1) I don't know how to sew and the few times I've tried were basically disasters, and 2) there are too many sewing machines to choose from.  When it comes to things like this, I really just need someone to tell me what to get.  Any suggestions?  I grew up with my mom sewing all the time, but she didn't pass that trait down to me.  And I have little patience for tedious work (like cutting or sewing a straight line) so I don't want to waste (potentially) too much money on it.  I have my mom's first sewing machine that I've used a couple times but I don't know how to thread it even though she's shown me more than once.  So I think I need to try a newer model, one that threads itself.  :)

Happy Birthday Addison!!

Brad and I spent the weekend in Jonesboro and Pocahontas with Brian and Ashley and Clint and Kristi.  The guys were in a golf tournament in Pocahontas (yes, it was TOO hot for that!) and Addison's birthday party was Saturday afternoon in Jonesboro.
Birthday Girl!!  The last time we saw her she was just starting to walk but this weekend, I couldn't even get a very good shot of her because she is so busy and doesn't stay still very long!!

Ashley does a fantastic job decorating for Addison's parties. She made the cute Minnie centerpiece (bottom right) and the door hanger!  Her party last year was just as cute and creative!

The food was so good.  I wanted to go back for seconds, but I thought I should try to act like a lady for a change.  And I knew I would be having cake too!

Little two-year old cutie!

Addison has about a thousand cousins on the Baltz side.  A few of them were lined up to get a piece of cake. There was a strawberry layer and a chocolate layer.....I had strawberry and it tasted as good as it looked!

Sweet Sophia!  We love both of Clint and Kristi's girls and I can't believe I didn't get a picture of her just-as-sweet sister, Isabella!

Big sister, Penney!  We've always liked Brian and Ashley's little Yorkie.  She never barks and looks so cute with bows in her hair!

We had such a good weekend!  Brad and Brian were in med school together and we miss getting to spend time with him and Ashley.  Especially now that they have Addison.  And Clint and Kristi (both in Brad's med school class) live about a mile from us but we rarely see them either.  Thinking about it makes me realize that we need to make a better effort to see our friends!
