Assignment #1 - Vehicle

The first assignment in my Photography class was to capture an interesting shot of a vehicle.  We were not allowed to use full auto or flash.  Since I didn't even know how to work my camera, I felt a little behind as soon as class ended.

I had a little trouble coming up with an idea of what would be an interesting shot of a vehicle.  On Sunday, I drove out toward Roland trying to find something.  I found a tractor but didn't take any shots.  Instead, I decided to go out to the Mercedes dealership and took a couple of shots there, but didn't really care for any of them.  They weren't very interesting.

Brad suggested I take some shots of a helicopter out in front of the VFW by our house.  I tried that and got one I turned in for the assignment.

After work on Monday, I decided to drive back out to Roland (I think it was actually Natural Steps) to get a photo of that tractor.  I liked the shots I got of it, but I didn't use it for class.

If you look close at this one, they have landscaping lights stuck all over and around the tractor!!

On my way out to the tractor the second time, I spotted an old blue truck at an abandoned building.  I got a few shots of the truck, but I had to be quick because the area was a little questionable, in my opinion.

When I pulled up to the truck I thought I had hit the jackpot because there was an old red bicycle on top of a pile of junk next to the building!  I liked those shots a lot and turned this one in for my assignment.

Brad didn't care for the bicycle shots and I don't think my friend Dawn liked them very much either.  Maybe I'm just a sucker for red bicycles....even if they're on top of a heap of junk!

A few more that I liked....

All of these photos were taken in Landscape mode.

Another hungry mouth to feed

For months we've had a stray cat showing up every once in a while.   We're suckers for strays so we always feed him when he shows up but he has only let Brad pat his head a time or two and he won't let me get close to him at all.  We call him Tiger and I think he's so cute.

He goes all over our neighborhood but no one knows if he belongs to anyone.  He doesn't bother us so we don't mind him hanging around but I'm going to feel sorry for him when the weather turns colder.  But I'm NOT going to let him come in.  I learned that lesson with Spatz!

This little guy also hangs around in the backyard, but at least we don't have to feed him!

NEW CAMERA!!!

Canon Rebel T2i

Brad gave me a 6-week photography class for my birthday this year and it starts tomorrow!  I have tried to go pick my new camera up from Bedford a couple of times but it hasn't been ready either time.   They are building a package for us that normally comes in a set and they just haven't actually built it yet.  So I'll just wait and pick it up right before class starts tomorrow.   I probably wouldn't know what to do with it on my own anyway so it's just as well that I wait on the class.  I hope to have some photos to post on here soon!
