Bears v. Seahawks

Today was a big day.  My Chicago Bears played the Seattle Seahawks in the playoffs.  We had fruit lunch (the person who gave me the idea called it that, so we do too) and cheered them on to a VICTORY!!

Spatz was so excited that they won today, she just busted out singing the the fight song....

"Chicago Bears, bear down!!"

I know.  We thought it was strange at first too....but she closes her eyes like that every time she sings.

Safe Haven

I was off work again today so I finished the book I started this weekend.   It was pretty good but not my favorite Nicholas Sparks book.
I used to read a book each month when I was a part of a now defunct book club.  Since it ended, I haven't read too many books.  I hope to do better this year.   Most weeks I don't get the sweet little gift of two days off though, so we shall see!

Snow day!

We got our first snow of the year yesterday and it was a good one!  It started snowing around 2:00 p.m. and I left work at 3:00 but it was already too late by then.  The roads were already bad.  I tried  and tried to get home, but decided it was best to just abandon my car and walk home.  I left it in a parking lot about a mile from my house, so I didn't have to walk far.

I knew I wouldn't have to work today but got up anyway and tried to make it a productive day.  I cleaned a little and watched a movie and read some.  After lunch I walked back to retrieve my car.  The roads weren't really clear but I made it back home ok.  I saw on the local news that we had gotten about 5 inches of snow, but it looked like more than that on top of my car.
I got a couple of shots of Spatz last night while it was snowing.  I thought she looked pretty with snow in her fur and whiskers!
I think she kind of liked the snow because she kept going in and out all night long!

The (not so sweet) Sugar Bowl

The Razorbacks made it to their first ever BCS bowl this year so the excitement level has been high among Hog fans!!  We would have loved to have went to New Orleans for the game, but it would have been difficult for both of us to get off work.
So instead, we had a couple of friends over to watch the game on tv and even brought out the "good stuff" to eat our bbq on!

And we had a special guest......Lucas!
He kind of looks like he's smiling, doesn't he?  It must have been because it was his one month birthday.

We really wanted to use our new Razorback cookie cutter but after two attempts, we just tossed the cookie dough in the trash!  The dough was too soft for us to transfer to a cookie sheet.  Frustrating.  Any advice??

This face pretty much sums up the way we all felt after the game.  The Hogs lost 31-26.  :(

Just playing with my lens....  Lucas' sweet, tiny hand.

New lens

Brad gave me a new lens for Christmas!  It's the macro lens that I had this on my Christmas list, so I was very happy to get it!  I played with it a little but I can't wait to have more time to figure it out.

I took a shot of the Flowering Quince in the back yard that is actually flowering right now.

A Christmas gift tag...

Some Christmas reading material...

I'm ready for spring to get here.  It's too cold to get outside for any amount of time to take pictures.
