Jackson

I stopped by Meredith's a couple of days ago to see Jackson and of course I had my camera ready for him. Good thing too.  He had his "2 months" onesie on so I think he expected it. He's SO cute!!

As an added bonus, he showed me most of the moves in the Olympic workout he is using to stay in shape.  Like most men, he works his arms the most/hardest.

Seriously, he NEVER stopped moving.   I'm not sure how Meredith keeps up with him.   And it's not just his arms that are constantly moving.  He had about a hundred different facial expressions to share too!

This one is kinda mean, I know.....  He's clearly begging for mercy.

Finally.  The workout is over.  (I think that's Meredith's "Praise the Lord!!" face.)

I never knew a two month old could be so entertaining.  I can't wait until he starts walking and talking!

False Alarm

Heather came to stay with me last Sunday so that she would be close to the hospital when she went into labor.   She chose to stay with us because we live the closest to the hospital, not for my great care taking abilities or knowledge of pregnancy.

So I'm sure it was a surprise to no one that Heather and I went to the hospital Friday night thinking it was time to have a baby!  We called all of the appropriate people (i.e. her husband, the grandparents, Jenny) and got them all worked up for nothing.  In our defense, how were we supposed to know what exactly "water breaking" is.

But we did great on our trial run!  We got her bag packed with all the necessities in record breaking time, and took off to the hospital.

I'm pretty sure her nurse (whose name was Dawn) wanted to believe she was in labor too.  First she told us Heather wasn't in labor, then she told us she was, then she said no again.  We were able to get almost everyone turned around before they all drove to Little Rock.  Well, except Heather's husband and mother-in-law.  But that was just because of a simple misunderstanding and not our fault.

Heather and I went back home around 2:00 A.M. still convinced she was in labor.  It was hard for us to believe that we were the only ones who could figure out what was going on! HA!  Sadly, we know we will NEVER live this down.

Baby Shower

This weekend we had a baby shower for Heather with some of the girls from our high school class.  We're pretty lucky to still be friends and the ones who live around home see each other quite often.  It is always good to see these girls (I should quit saying "girls".....we're probably considered "ladies" by now!!).  We all grew up together and I love thinking back to all the times we shared.   It's hard to believe that we will be having our 20th high school reunion in just a couple years!

Back row: me, Keeli, Michelle, Christie, Carrie, Jenny; front row: Amy, Krista, Heather

Everyone brought a book for Hadley.  Heather is a librarian so there will be no shortage of books in her house, but we thought it would be neat to give her a jump start.  I chose A Sick Day For Amos McGee because it's the Caldecott Award winner this year.  I want to try to get her the Caldecott book each year while she's little and then maybe move to the Newberry books when she can actually read!  That's my plan, anyway.

Michelle brought her little girl, Avery.  Michelle and I were inseparable in high school and I love that her daughter is the spitting image of her!!!  But don't let that sweet face fool you..... she gives her mom a real run for her money!!  Cracks me up!!!  :-)

I spent the night at Jenny's and when we got home, we found Emilee asleep on the couch.  I think she was waiting up on us but couldn't make it.  I don't blame her..... it was WAY past my bedtime too!

It was so good to see everyone and maybe now that all the showers are over, Hadley can make her grand entrance into the world!  We're all ready so I don't know what she's waiting for!!  HA!  Actually, I don't mind if she stays put for a little while longer.  Heather's doctor wants her in Little Rock permanently a couple weeks prior to her due date so she will be staying with us and I'm really looking forward to that!!!  Shamelessly selfish, I know!!
