Heather came to stay with me last Sunday so that she would be close to the hospital when she went into labor. She chose to stay with us because we live the closest to the hospital, not for my great care taking abilities or knowledge of pregnancy.
So I'm sure it was a surprise to no one that Heather and I went to the hospital Friday night thinking it was time to have a baby! We called all of the appropriate people (i.e. her husband, the grandparents, Jenny) and got them all worked up for nothing. In our defense, how were we supposed to know what exactly "water breaking" is.
But we did great on our trial run! We got her bag packed with all the necessities in record breaking time, and took off to the hospital.
I'm pretty sure her nurse (whose name was Dawn) wanted to believe she was in labor too. First she told us Heather wasn't in labor, then she told us she was, then she said no again. We were able to get almost everyone turned around before they all drove to Little Rock. Well, except Heather's husband and mother-in-law. But that was just because of a simple misunderstanding and not our fault.
Heather and I went back home around 2:00 A.M. still convinced she was in labor. It was hard for us to believe that we were the only ones who could figure out what was going on! HA! Sadly, we know we will NEVER live this down.
